Actor Juhi Parmar was left outraged when she walked into a cinema hall with her 10-year-old daughter to watch Barbie. In a post on social media, she wrote how shocked she was by the ‘inappropriate language and sexual connotations’ of the film and had to be released after 10-15 minutes. According to Juhimany parents followed suit as she accused the creators of misleading the audience.

“Many of my audience will not be happy with what I share today, some of you may send me a lot of anxiety, but I share this note as a concerned parent about Barbie! And for other parents out there, don’t make the mistake I made and please check before you take your child for the movie, this choice is yours! # responsibileting8ithjuhi # parenting # responsibileting # parent, ” she wrote in the caption.

The film directed by Greta Gerantanig stars Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling in the lead roles, as Barbie and Ken, respectively. Signing the letter as a’ worried and disappointed parent’, Juhi went on to ask the creators about breaking her’perfect illusion of a Barbie’. She wrote, ” Why make Barbie unsuitable for kids and a Pg-13 movie instead of a movie that everyone could enjoy with the family. I would like to erase the memory of this movie and continue to believe in a picture perfect Barbie for my child who has a collection of yours and loves you very much … I wish a lot!”

While some other parents agreed with him, most others called Juhi to come to conclusions, having only watched a few minutes of the film. On person wrote, ” Yk instead of posting a review based on 10-15 minutes of the movie, maybe try watching the whole thing and then forming an opinion? Also in your entire post you do not give any examples of what was even inappropriate in the film. The reason why it’S PG-13 is because Barbie it’s a functional adult, and the film has deeper themes than a child can ever understand. The only reason you’re angry is because they showed Barbie as an actual woman and not just the perfect idea that you fed your kids. If you looked at them all (with or without your child) you would have been able to write a more intellectual review than whatever this post is.”

Calling it “the saddest post ever,” another wrote, ” it’s not the job of movies to parent your child. Read the reviews and get a call. Too sensitive? Barbie has always been sexualized, Where Have you been? Another added, ” I think you have to understand that this movie is not adult because of the reason you mentioned it, but because it speaks to deeper topics like existential crisis, mental health, and patriarchy, which can be too heavy for kids to understand. it was clearly not a Disney animated Film, and I don’t think this kind of open letter is a way to express your opinion.”

The Kumkum actor found support from some of her fans, who wrote messages like, “try ignoring these comments. You don’t have to justify putting your thoughts and voice into your Social form. People who have a problem with it can do as they please. Please do not pay attention to any of these attention seekers and trollers.”

Barbie has created a worldwide outrage with her tongue in the face of patriarchy, sexism and gender bias. The film has already grossed over $ 340 million worldwide. In India, it’s been pretty good, having earned nearly 21 million rupees in four days, but it’s following Christopher nolan’s Oppenheimer.
